Apply for a grant! Application period open until 31 October.
SET is a member organisation of Kopiosto and supervises the copyright interests of its members in cooperation with Kopiosto. SET recommends that everyone working in the field signs the Copyright Agreement for Audiovisual Authors.
With the Copyright Agreement for Audiovisual Authors, the creator reinforces their financial position as an audiovisual author and increases their control over their creative work. In addition, this way the creator ensures that they receive all remunerations they are entitled to based on the secondary use of their work. The Copyright Agreement for Audiovisual Authors is granted to the Kopiosto member organisation that best represents the creator and their work. Also students should see to signing their Copyright Agreement for Audiovisual Authors already during their studies.
You can sign the Copyright Agreement for Audiovisual Authors conveniently online at Kopiosto’s eservices.
What are Kopiosto grants all about?
On the basis of the Copyright Agreements for Audiovisual Authors, Kopiosto sells licences for the secondary use of television programmes, for instance, such as home recording or use in educational institutions. Kopiosto pays the remunerations collected from these licences personally to the authors. In addition, Kopiosto returns to its member organisations online recording remunerations that the member organisations distribute back to the authors as grants, scholarships and awards. The grants distributed by SET are funded with the copyright remunerations collected by Kopiosto.
Kopiosto collects the copyright remunerations based on the number of the Copyright Agreements for Audiovisual Authors, and that is why SET recommends that all grant applicants grant their Copyright Agreement for Audiovisual Authors to SET. The person granting the Copyright Agreement for Audiovisual Authors does not have to be a SET member.
In 2023, SET is distributing a total of €15,000 in grants. Operators and students in the audiovisual industry can apply for grants for copyrighted work or studying regardless of the fact if they are or are not members of SET. However, granting the Copyright Agreement for Audiovisual Authors to SET is seen as favourable. The distribution of grants is decided by SET’s grant working group, and the decisions will comply with the rules regarding the use of Kopiosto’s collective remunerations.

A precondition for receiving a grant is that it is targeted to copyrighted creative work (The ABC of Copyright).
